Whiter teeth: Home Remedies

For most things in life there are home remedies, for us to save a little money here and there, because after all, the cost of living nowadays is quite high. To spend money on something like cosmetic whitening to our teeth seems a little overblown and non-essential. Home remedies can often prove to be more beneficial too. If you can find a natural solution to your problem, then it makes you very happy when you do so by being thrifty.

The most used home remedy for teeth whitening is baking soda. When you add a little baking soda to your regular toothpaste, until it forms a gritty and lumpy texture, you will find that it brightens your smile very quickly indeed. The best way to do this at home, is to take a cup or bowl, and add about a teaspoon of toothpaste. Then, start adding small amounts of baking soda gradually until it forms a texture as described above. This is a cost effective method, and does the job nicely. Of course, it has no hydrogen peroxide in the mixture, which can give teeth a really white appearance, and is used professionally as well as over the counter.

Another great little home remedy for whitening is strawberries. Many people do not know, but strawberries have malic acid in them, which can be used to remove discoloration. When you add this to the whitening properties of baking soda, and you have a fantastic cheap home whitening remedy. To make this great tasting toothpaste, simply take the top off a large, ripe strawberry, and then mush it up with a fork. Once you have formed a paste, start adding the baking soda in small quantities until it makes the mixture gritty and thick. Use this method once a week, and always floss and brush your teeth with regular brand toothpaste afterwards.
